The Wonders of ACV!
So I’m sure by now you’ve seen the letters ACV together in beauty supply stores, walking down the beauty isles at the grocery store or on hair blogs! I bet you are wondering where did this come from and what does it mean?
Well, allow me get you up to speed on a product you already know and might love, Apple Cider Vinegar!! I’m sure you’re wondering what does it have to do with hair all of a sudden? ACV is honestly a product that works wonders for literally everything. It’s kind of like baking soda in that regard, except much safer.
When it comes to the scalp, specifically it helps clear any kind of dandruff, itching, flaking and build up that can occur. It also soothes the scalp and the skin and essentially helps to balance and regulate most minor irritations. If your scalp is overly oily it helps regulate oil and if your scalp is overly dry it helps regulate the dryness. ACV is also amazing for just clearing any impurities and excess product buildup which then leaves the hair really shiny and lightweight. I would highly recommend always doing an ACV rinse after taking down braids, weaves, protective styles or any time you’re about to do a deep cleanse to your hair and scalp.
The brands I currently love that carry great ACV rinses are the following:
Girl + Hair ACV Rinse
R & Co Acid Wash
Cantu ACV Rinse
If you are a DIY type of gal however, here’s what I’d recommend you use:
1/2 cup of ACV
1/2 cup of aloe Vera gel
A few drops of Coconut water
A few drops of Tea Tree Oil
A few drops of Rosemary oil
Afew drops of Olive oil
A squirt of your favorite cleansing shampoo
Put all the ingredients in a bottle with a pointed tip applicator nozzle. Shake well and apply toyour scalp before your next shampoo!
I promise your scalp and hair will love you for it! And keep me posted on your results!
